WONDERFUL, VERY UNUSUAL LARGE SCALE VINTAGE CARDBOARD, PAPER MICA GLITTER COVERED CHRISTMAS VILLAGE PUTZ CHURCH. Perfect for your your Christmas Village, Nativity, Putz or Model Railroad, under the tree. Christmas village decorations such as these, were sold in the local five and dime stores, from small towns to large metro cities after WWII, when exports from Japan to the U.S. began again. This was the "Golden Age" of Christmas Holiday decorations, 1940's-1960's. Beautiful detailing and coloration. Very unusual two story design, bell tower steeple, with little metal bell inside. The steeple is removable. Heavy mica snow glitter covers the front, base, roof and sides of the building, for a beautiful, wintery snow effect. Very unusual blue bottle brush tree, secure to the base. The village putz church is in very good vintage condition, as shown in the photos. Cellophane door and the windows are there and intact. It has the original two holes in the back to insert small size lights, which is what we have done, to show the lovely glow of Christmases past thru the windows and door. The extra large size church measures about 8 1/4" tall with the steeple attached, 6 1/4" wide, and 3 1/8" deep. Ink stamp on the bottom, "JAPAN".
