VINTAGE CHENILLE SPUN COTTON CHRISTMAS SANTA ELVES

WONDERFUL SET OF THREE VINTAGE SPUN COTTON, PAPIER MACHE, CLAY FACE, CHENILLE SANTA PIXIE ELVES. What great old Christmas Holiday decorations. Very unusual style and design. The set of three pixie elves are free standing, perfect for your Christmas Village, Putz, Nativity or model railroad under the tree. You can also use them as ornaments for your Vintage design tree. Vintage Christmas holiday figurines and decorations such as these, were sold in the five and dime stores such as Woolworth's, Murphy's, after WWII, when exports from Japan began, and trade was established between our countries. This time period, late 1940's-1950's, was the "Golden Age" of Christmas Holiday decorations. The first and second elf have cardboard bodies, hand painted spun cotton heads, chenille trim, beard, arms, felt hats. One dressed as Santa, holds a small bottle brush tree, the other holds a gold metallic paper accordion. The third elf has a spun cotton body, hand painted clay face, chenille trim beard and arms. He holds a pair of composition maracas. They measure about 2 1/2" tall. Two of the little Santa elves are ink stamped on the bottom of the round cardboard disk, "JAPAN".
