UNUSUAL VINTAGE MERCURY GLASS BEAD CHRISTMAS TREE GARLAND

WONDERFUL, VERY UNUSUAL STRAND OF VINTAGE MERCURY GLASS BEAD CHRISTMAS TREE GARLAND. What beautiful old glass beads. They would be perfect for your Vintage design tree, your Patriotic tree, or other red, white and blue decorating ideas. Very unusual style and design. Rich, vibrant coloration in shades of silver with a red stripe around each bead, mimicking that of a candy cane, royal blue and silver. Rare to find this type of two tone coloration on the old beads. There are two different size beads on this strand, the red / silver colored beads measure about 7/16" each, the solid silvers and royal blues measure about 3/8" each. Again, a very unusual strand. The beads are all in very good vintage condition, as shown in the photos. We have tried to remove any damaged or broken beads, so they are ready to be used and enjoyed. This lovely strand measures about 74" long, has a cardboard square and metal twist tie at each end. When it comes to glass bead garlands such as these, each glass bead would have been hand blown in countries such as Germany, Czechoslovakia or Japan right after WW II. Imports into the US then began in the late 1940's, into the 1950's, when trade began with these countries. Many Czech beads can be much earlier, dating pre-war.
